Emlid Flow and Emlid Flow 360 Free Account Features
This video will show off the features available to Emlid users without a survey subscription.
00:00 - 00:45 Emlid Account Sign Up
First let's create an account either in the Emlid Flow app or in a web browser by navigating to emlidflow360.emlid.com. The process will be nearly identical. If you open Emlid Flow, tap Profile and then log in. You have the option to create your account with an email and password, or you can link your Google, Apple, or GitHub email account. Note that if you sign in using different methods, it will create different accounts linked to the separate sign in methods.
00:45 - 02:16 Preparing a Project in Emlid Flow 360
After we have created the account and have signed in, we will start the all projects screen. Click New project and give it a name. Notice that we are given clear visual cues as to what is locked behind a +Survey subscription. Namely here we are unable to load any code libraries. Choose a local coordinate system and make sure you are using the right linear units before you create the project. Now that you are in your project, you are given a basic map view. Changing the background layers to satellite imagery or any custom wms layers is only available with the +Survey subscription. You are also unable to use Inverse or Traverse tools and are limited to only points in the free version. You can manually add some points if you have some known coordinates or better yet you have the option to import whole point files in CSV, DXF, Shapefile, or KML. Lets go ahead and import a CSV.
02:16 - 02:37 Stakeout
Now with my prep complete in Emlid Flow 360, since my tablet is currently connected to the internet and logged in with my Emlid account, the project will automatically be synced. In Emlid Flow we can fully configure our receiver for its use case, then to stakeout one of the points we imported, we can tap the point on the screen, then tap Stake out to start navigating to it.
02:37 - 03:14 Collecting a New Point
If we want to collect new points, we just back out to the map view, select the blue plus button, then measure. It is a good idea to first check that your pole height is correct. Then tap the Settings icon and turn on Averaging. Even just one second will be more reliable than an instant collection since we would have the average of five points instead of a single point tied to the coordinate. The only other tool available in the free version is the Base shift.
03:14 - 03:45 Exporting Project from Emlid Flow 360
Once we are done in the field, the data we’ve collected will sync to Flow 360 where we can export it to our computer easily. Our export formats are limited to the same types as our imports: CSV, DXF, KML, and Shapefile.
