Operating the DJI D-RTK 3 as a Network Rover

Video tutorial DJI D-RTK 3 GCP collection & rover setup

This video covers activating your DJI D-RTK 3 and configuring it for use as a rover for collecting GCPs and ground checks for your drone mapping needs. The DJI Enterprise app is currently compatible with Android 10 and newer devices only. The D-RTK 3 can also function as a base for a Matrice 4, or as a relay station to extend the range of another D-RTK 3 running as a base.

Initial setup and activation

Before first use, you need to activate the D-RTK 3. Install the latest version of DJI Assistant 2 on a PC, then sign in, plug in the unit, and activate it. While still in DJI Assistant 2, you can also update the firmware. From your phone or PC, download and install the DJI Enterprise app on your Android device.

Powering on and selecting operating mode

A short press followed by a long press powers on the unit. Triple-pressing the button cycles between base, rover, and relay modes. The color of the M LED indicates the active mode.

Connecting and entering NTRIP credentials

In the DJI Enterprise app, tap the Rover Station option in the top-right corner and select Connect Device. Once connected, tap the device to enter your NTRIP credentials.

Saving a coordinate system

Tap Manage Coordinate System and then Create to save a system for quick access on all future tasks. You can create a custom coordinate system or select a known one. Name it accordingly, for example selecting the established system for NAD83(2011) Ohio North. Once saved, that system will be available to select when creating any new task.

Collecting GCPs

Create a task, name it, and select your coordinate format. Once inside the task, level your rod on your first GCP. Open the point settings to confirm your pole height is correct. You can choose between a check shot and a control point, set how long you want to average the point, and for control points, how many times you want to restart the collection.

When your settings are correct, tap Add Point to record the coordinate. When you have finished collecting, tap Complete in the top-right corner to return to the previous menu.

Exporting your data

To export, tap the three-dot menu, then View Task Report, then Export. The unit will export a JSON and CSV file ready for use in DJI Terra.
