Coordinate System Selection by State

All 50 states Emlid Flow reference NAD83(2011) · NAVD88
Horizontal system

When no specific system is requested and you're not comparing against an existing dataset, select the state plane zone for your location. In Emlid Flow this appears as NAD83(2011) / [State] [Zone]. Use the ArcGIS state plane tool to find your zone.

Vertical system

The most common vertical system is orthometric height with the latest geoid (Geoid 18). In Emlid Flow this corresponds to NAVD88 height.

Units

Most states use US survey feet. Some use international feet. Selecting the wrong one can result in several feet of error — check the table below for your state.

Wrong system selected?

Don't worry — you can always convert from one coordinate system to another after the fact. Some states also use county-based systems; check locally if state plane isn't specified.
