Installing and Setting up FieldGenius® for Android™

This deployment guide details the step-by-step process required to successfully install, license, and configure MicroSurvey FieldGenius for Android (FGA). Following these configuration workflows ensures your system parameters are optimized prior to connecting your Emlid Reach hardware.

Installation & Licensing

To begin software initialization, fetch the official package payload directly on your Android device:

  • Download the latest version of FieldGenius for Android.
  • If prompted by your system security preferences, explicitly grant permission to allow application installations from your mobile web browser environment.
  • Launch the FieldGenius for Android application.

If you have purchased a standard software activation key, select Register to fully unlock the complete capabilities of the software suite. Alternatively, if evaluating the software, select OK to enter Demo Mode. Note that Demo Mode operates with full configuration options but restricts total storage parameters to a maximum of 30 points per project database.

Template Project Parameters

Creating an accurate configuration template streamlines deployment for subsequent survey projects. Select Create a New Project and establish your primary spatial reference variables:

  • Provide a clear, descriptive project template name string.
  • Define your operational baseline Distance Unit rules.
  • Set your target global or regional Coordinate System boundaries.
  • Specify your required local orthometric Vertical Datum specifications.
Important Coordinate Selection Rule: Tap the explicit dropdown list inside the Coordinate System options interface to filter your targeted systems. If utilizing regional State Plane systems, ensure you select a configuration from the search results that concludes explicitly in NAD83. System files containing trailing suffixes like "HARN", "HARN for GNSS", or plain "for GNSS" will fail to compute transformation variables properly in this specific configuration.

Geoid Models & Codes

To lock down true orthometric mean sea level heights relative to ellipsoidal heights, you must map a precise mathematical local geoid model profile:

  • Select the Catalog tab inside your vertical datum parameter view.
  • Expand the United States regional directory grouping.
  • Scroll down through the localized geoidal files and choose g2018u0 (this specific definition provides continuous mathematical geoid coverage across the conterminous United States).
  • Assign your feature layer indexing rules by selecting either an Empty Code List or loading the comprehensive pre-installed Survey Code List.

Once selected, tap Create to compile the project file structure. Your FieldGenius application ecosystem is now fully optimized, calibrated, and ready for physical hardware pairing with your Emlid Reach GNSS receiver line.
